The Mandala is a beautiful symbol that represents the realities of life through shapes and colors. All creations and realities are considered manifestations of the Divine. The colors in the Mandala are shades of light and shadows that make the world so beautiful. However, it is important to remember that nothing in this world is permanent. The Mandala must ultimately be dismantled and destroyed to symbolize the transitory nature of material life.

Jangchub Choeling Nunnery, Mundgod has a group of nuns who are learning different types of Mandalas including Avalokiteshvara Mandala, Tara Mandala, Eight Auspicious Symbols, Medicine Buddha, Tara Mantra Mandala, and more. These nuns have been practicing for several weeks with intense concentration to draw the Mandalas using colored sand, but it only takes a few minutes to destroy them.
